The Ballet Society of Colorado Springs, Imagination Celebration,
Performing Arts for Youth Organization (PAYO), Thomas MacLaren

Fine Arts Center, and the Buell Children's Museum in Pueblo. These
are the core groups who will be 'doing the leg work' to plan,
implement, and carry on the traditions created by the 2013 festival.

The
Classics for Kids Festival
- 2013 inaugural year and day-long event includes:
• Live musical, dance, and vocal
performances by local youth arts groups
• Interactive visual and performance
art opportunities for attendees
• Information Booth for participating
organizations to distribute materials
• Promotions Tables for businesses
and organizations serving local youth
WHEN
Saturday, April 27,
2013 from 10am - 7pm
WHERE
The
Citadel in Colorado Springs - The Citadel, located in Colorado
Springs and one of the largest shopping centers in Colorado, will
provide venue space for the
Classics for Kids Festival
that is large enough to incorporate multiple performances
simultaneously. The festival will fully utilize The Citadel offering
music, dance, and theatre performances, as well as visual arts
presentations, throughout the shopping center. Imagination
Celebration's facilities in the Burlington Coat Factory wing of The
Citadel along with the Food Court area will provide main performance
spaces. The Imagination Celebration facilities are a benefit due to
their ability to serve as a dance/theatre performance venues.
Another enticing factor about The Citadel is the 'built-in audience'
that is at the shopping center each Saturday, which will help our
goal of reaching a large and diverse group of local youth and
families that may not typically attend such events at more specific
locations.
WHY
The
Classics for Kids Festival
was created to inform the local public of classical arts
opportunities for children in southern Colorado. The festival will
encourage children to explore their interests and potential talents
in the arts, and engage them in fun, new activities that may benefit
them in their studies and other areas of their lives. Children will
be invited to partake in arts activities offered by participating
festival groups.
